    Welcome to the Friends of AnimePoko.com, our affiliate program, which will enable fans and customers to support AnimePoko.com and help us spread interest in Anime to others while earning cash or store credit for each order you send our way. Our Affiliate program is open to anyone who owns a website. Feel free to browse our FAQ below for more details about the AnimePoko.com Friend program.

    What does it mean to become an affiliate?

    If you have an established website, you can become a Friends ofAnimePoko.com Affiliate, which is a partnership between us and you (an individual or company with a website, based anywhere in the world), which will earn you commissions on orders made through your site.

    What do I have to do to join the program?

    First, you’ll have to register through our Friends of AnimePoko.com sign-up page. We’ll need to know the URL of your website(s) and some other information. Within a week or so we’ll review your site and let you know if you’ve been approved for our program.

    Once your application has been approved, the necessary HTML code to plug into your site will be made available to you in your affiliate control panel.

    How does linking to your site works?

    We’re very happy to have an extremely flexible affiliate system that lets you showAnimePoko.com’s products in any way you want. Want to promote only bento boxes or Japanese snacks? No problem! You will be able to choose from a series of premade banners and graphics on your affiliate control panel.

    Want to link to products directly, or to categories of products? It’s very easy. You have complete control over theAnimePoko.com items you show your readers. We’ve also just rolled out a great new feature: the ability to create automated “tower” banners showing specific products you choose.

    What kinds of sites will you approve?

    AnimePoko.com genuinely loves Anime and wants to promote interest in Japanese popular culture all over the Internet, so we’re looking for sites that will help us attain this goal. There are some sites that we won’t approve for the program, including those that promote software piracy or otherwise violate copyrights of others; sites which promote hate or any illegal activities; sites that are under construction; and sites that are “banner farms,” existing for the sole purpose of spamming the Internet with dozens of ads (yuck). If your site is a valid website with real, useful information for your readers, we’ll be happy to approve it for the program.

    How do I earn commissions?

    If you’re approved, you’ll have the option of choosing a cash payment (plan A) or a AnimePoko.com store credit (plan B) on all valid orders made through your links. Currently, the commission rate for cash payments is 12%, and the rate for store credit is 15%, which are significantly higher than any similar program we know of (Amazon pays around 2.5%!).

    If you’ve chosen the cash payment option, we’ll send you a Paypal payment or a check at the end of every two-month period; if you’ve opted for a AnimePoko.com store credit, we’ll enter the store credit for you into the AnimePoko.com shopping cart, allowing you to make purchases through the site. Please note that all AnimePoko.com products are part of the commission system — other sites give you a commission only on full-price, non-sale items which greatly reduces your overall commission potential.

    Which orders are valid?

    “Valid orders” are orders received through your website links which were paid for by customers and not returned. Orders made with fraudulent credit cards, orders from countries we don’t ship to, orders received but never paid for, or orders made with suspicious IP addresses are examples of orders that are not valid.

    How can I check if the system is working properly?

    As an affiliate, you will get access to all the information you could need on your links, including how many clicks you’ve received and when, how many sales you’ve received and what was purchased, and whether sales were approved or not. There’s no confusion about how many clicks you’re getting or sales you’re making — just log into the Friends of AnimePoko.com Affiliates Console and check your current status. You have total access to all information with our system.

    Do I have to host AnimePoko.com ’s banners on my server?

    AnimePoko.com takes care of all the image hosting of the graphics we make available to you for your website — so being a Friends of AnimePoko.com Affiliate doesn’t even cost you any bandwidth! To display our ads, all you have to do is insert the HTML for the graphic/banner you want to use into your website. We make it easy for you to join our program! We update our banners every 6-8 weeks with automatic update on your site too.

    I don’t want ugly graphics or Flash animation on my website.

    We totally hear you! We have selection of ready-made graphics you can easily show on your website, with different graphics for different tastes — anime, toy and “wacky” graphics, ads that show the steamier side to AnimePoko.com, and specialty graphics like Japanese study, yaoi and “gothic” products, which are non-offensive, non-animated images. There are also small button-style graphics that will go with any website. Don’t want to paste graphics at all? No problem — you can also create text links to any product, category, or search string on AnimePoko.com, for very low-key, targeted ads. None of our ads use Flash and only a few have GIF animation to them.

    What else should I know?

    The Friends of AnimePoko.com partnership between you and us is governed by our Affiliate Agreement, which you agree to when you start linking to us through the system. We reserve the right to change this agreement when necessary, and inform affiliates of the changes whenever they’ve been made. We maintain a mailing list that allows us to easily update affiliates on changes to the program.

    Yes, they are. Occasionally, we are able to get an incredible buy on some products. When we do, we pass those savings along to you. This is called our Clearance Bin. Many times, super-specials such as these are available in limited quantities only, but they do have the same guarantees as any other items.     Where is my order?

    Most products ship from our Los Angeles warehouse within 24 to 48 hours and are shipped according to your chosen shipping method - see details on shipping methods and delivery time.

    Please carefully read the email updates we send you to understand the status of your order.

  • You will receive email confirmation when your order ships. Your order's status will be updated on your order history (registered customers only).
  • Depending on the availability and quantity of items, your order might be shipped in several packages. Therefore the whole order might not reach you on the same day or in the same package. Please allow at least one week after the first delivery before contacting us about your order.
  • Some products ship from our Los Angeles warehouse and will be delivered separately.
  • EMS Express customers can track their order online with the link provided in the email confirmation.
  • In some cases, Customs clearance might slow down delivery times, especially in Australia and New Zealand. Up to a month is not unusual.
  • Backordered items can delay your order for several days or weeks. When you place an order, you are asked if you want to split your order into several packages or hold it until all items are available. You can always change your mind by contacting us.

    When is my preorder arriving?

    Preorders are usually sent separately from other items upon release. We will send you an email notification when your item ships. The manufacturer's estimated shipping date for a product is visible on the details page for the product. Please be aware that delays are quite common.

    How can I change the shipping address on my order?

    We are usually able to change the shipping address on an order within the first 24 hours after the order has been placed. If you've placed your order more than 24 hours ago, we might not be able to change it before it goes out.

    To get in contact with us to change the shipping address, please submit a ticket.

    Note: PayPal customers might notice the shipping address in their PayPal payment prompt on the PayPal website is different from the one that was submitted upon placing their order. The shipping address we use is the one provided on your order, not the one displayed on PayPal.

    Why are the details on my order information page showing incorrect/old information?

    Our customer order status system is still in BETA, and sometimes will give incorrect information about the current status of an order.

    How to Order by mail?

    If you are paying by mail, you can use a credit card, money orders, or domestic check. Please do not send cash.

    If I move, should I inform you?

    Certainly a good idea (AnimePoko.com would be the FIRST notice I'd send if I were you), especially if you want to keep getting stuff from us. Just drop us a quick note, giving us your old address, and your new address, so that we can update our records.

    What is "Let me know" service?

    One day is not easy to identify because the stock deal with a very large amount of stuff we have. Moreover, if the Pre-order, in many cases the release date provided by the Manufacturer changes, often coming to work wearing a release date for that product, or material to us via email to ask consumers.

    Therefore, if you apply for a service or for goods not in stock, Pre-order items is notified to the customer that stuff is released, if the characters wearing automatically relieve the discomfort of these services give our customers, in our Animepoko.com.

    The function is very simple. Simply click in the detail page for that item "Let me know" button. However, registration is required to use this service.

    Payments

    How can I send a Paypal payment manually?

    In various cases, you might want - or will be asked - to send us a payment via Paypal, manually. Follow the instructions below to do so:

    1. Make sure you know your order total. You can view this information in confirmation emails we send.
    2. Connect to your Paypal account.
    3. Using the 'Send Money' tab, enter our paypal address* in the recipient field, and the amount in US dollars.
    4. Once the payment is completed, let us know the Paypal transaction ID of the payment.**

    Additional information

    You can find the Paypal Transaction ID number in the payment details page of your Paypal account.
    Paypal might ask you to specify a shipping address, but we don't need this information. The shipping address you entered on our website at the time you placed your order is the shipping address that is going to be used.

    How can I pay for my order?

    How do I submit new credit card information?

    To submit new payment details, please fill out our secure form. Please remember to include your order number.

    What currencies are accepted?

    All prices are listed are in US dollars (USD) on the website, but we accept all currencies around the world.

    If your currency is different (Euro for example), the conversion will be automatically handled by your bank, PayPal or Google Checkout (depending on your payment method).

    I closed the PayPal window before paying, so now how can I pay for my order?

    If you've accidentally closed the PayPal payment window during the checkout process, your order has been recorded by our system but no payment was made. Once your order has been reviewed by our staff, we will send you a confirmation invoice with a link to pay through PayPal.

    You can make a manual PayPal payment at any time by sending it to service@animepoko.com with your order number in the subject line. Once you have the confirmation number please send the confirmation number to our payments department.

    What do I do if there is a problem/error with my order?

    If the problem is due to our error, we'll do our best to make it right. Depending on what kind of items you ordered, we may able to grant a refund or replacement, but not always. Most custom items and preorders cannot be refunded, but instead will be replaced whenever possible.

    Can I pay with a debit card or prepaid credit card?

    Debit cards and prepaid cards that have a credit card marking, such as Visa or Mastercard, are accepted by our system, but sometimes have issues with our payment gateways due to factors that are out of our control. For debit cards, please ensure that we have your correct billing address on file, as this helps the orders go through the system properly.

    I paid, but where is my payment confirmation?

    It can take up to 72 hours to confirm the validity of a PayPal or Google Checkout payment. For eChecks paid via PayPal, it can take up to a week.

    Products & Pricing

    What is an OVA (OAV)?

    This means Original Video Animation. In normal terms, this means a direct to video release.

    What is the difference between the ‘Edited' TV episodes and the regular ones that are listed?

    One was shown on TV! Duh!! Seriously, this varies depending on the show. Many times the TV episodes are censored. (The TV execs hate doing it as much as you hate them doing it) Censoring is done to coincide with the regulations that TV broadcasters must abide by. This can involve the removal of Nudity, Excessive Violence, Blood (sometimes just a change from red to green makes a difference), and the naughty words. The non-TV versions often times have the episodes in their original form and you get to see the show as the producers intended. You can note this by "TV version," "Toonami," or "Edited" in the item listing.

    Why are some products listed as (D), (S) or (Hyb)?

    Although DVDs allow for the possibility of dual language anime, it is not always possible to license a title for dual language release in the States. So, you end up with manufacturers releasing Subtitle Only (S) or Dubbed Only (D) DVDs. Subtitled DVDs display the dialogue on the bottom of the screen while the actual voices are still in Japanese. Dubbed means the music (probably) is intact, but the voices have been redone in English. You might also see (Hyb) which means that both the subtitled and dubbed versions are available on the same DVD.

    I saw this show that I think might have been Japanese Animation. Do you have it?

    We get questions like this all the time in the company email box. If you can give us enough information, someone can usually identify the program. Please understand, though, that if you ask us about something where "there's a girl who's like a magic user, a guy with a sword who has big hair, and a villain who wants to take over the universe, and I think there are some cat girls in it" there's a problem. This describes about half the films ever made. Also, knowing what a series or movie is doesn't mean that it's available in the US as a licensed product, but it's likely that it is.

    Can we special order series not on the website?

    Simply put: If it isn't on our website, we can't get it.

    What is Region Coding?

    Region coding is a geographical restriction for DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Since players are region specific, you need to make sure that the item you purchase is coded for the same region as your player. All DVDs and Blu-ray discs we sell are region coded for the United States.

    What region is your DVD player?

    If you purchased your player from a retail outlet in the U.S., it should be Region 1 for DVD players and Region A for Blu-ray players. You can check the region coding on your player by looking for the region code symbol on the player's packaging.

    Will a Blu-ray disc play in my DVD player?

    Just as CDs and DVDs require different types of players, so do DVDs and Blu-ray discs. In order to play a Blu-ray disc, you must have a special Blu-ray player or a Playstation 3.

    Will a DVD play in my Blu-ray player?

    While some Blu-ray players will also read DVDs, not all do. We cannot guarantee that all DVDs will play in your Blu-ray player.

    Can my DVD play in a Playstation / Xbox / personal computer?

    It depends on the DVD. There have been instances of some DVDs having difficulty playing in certain players. While the vast majority of DVDs will work just fine, we cannot guarantee all DVDs will play correctly on your Playstation, Xbox or personal computer.

    What is a Viridian Collection, Anime Classics, S.A.V.E., etc.?

    Certain DVD and Blu-ray items are marked with names such as "Viridian Collection," "S.A.V.E. Edition," etc. These are re-releases of the original discs at lower prices. However, these editions may or may not include all of the features that were found on the original releases. If you are concerned that the item you are considering may not contain the features that you want, please check the item’s listing through our online store or feel free to contact Customer Support Team.

    What are some good shows for young children?

    Although this is truly a matter of personal preference, we recommend Totoro, Kiki's, Pokemon, Kimba, and Astro Boy for young anime fans. You might also consider the Sanrio titles like Hello Kitty. Look for the "ALL" age rating in item listings for child-friendly titles.

    Why isn't some anime available in the US?

    You might be surprised to find out how much of anime is available in the US. Of the few titles that remain unlicensed, some titles have their rights disputed, or licensors want more money than a title can possibly generate in this market, and, of course, some are currently in negotiation. With the exception of a few TV series (which are a different matter entirely, due to their length), this just about covers it. We do not sell fan subs of non-licensed products, or pirated copies of licensed programs.

    How long is a typical item "out of stock" for?

    With a few exceptions, DVD delays can be measured in days. There are some freak delays, but 2-4 weeks is a usually safe figure, and is what we'll likely tell you if you ask. However, please keep in mind that some items are directly imported from Japan, and may be in short supply even there, and should the vendor be out of stock at the time of our resupply order with them, it may be a bit longer. We keep thousands of items in stock, and our computer system automatically adjusts stock levels based on demand.

    I ordered something in your website told me that it was discontinued / why did you list it as being available for sale?

    It might be that the product is a Limited Edition or an Import that is only available for a short time. Other times, an item, such as a graphic novel, can go out of print and will no longer be produced. Unfortunately, we don't always know this until after the catalog has been printed. If you do select a discontinued item, we'll do our very best to work with you to select a different one or simply return your payment.

    Ratings System

    To benefit our customers, we have implemented a rating system for many of our products based on our staff's knowledge of each title's content, as well as input from the various anime suppliers.

    ALL

    Generally acceptable for children. No Nudity. Possible mild violence.

    12+, 13+

    May contain violence, brief nudity, and/or mild language. May suggest sexual situations, but no situations are shown. Parental discretion advised.

    15+, 16+, 17+

    Strong violence and strong language. Prevalent Nudity may be contained within the picture. Mild sexual situations may be shown.

    18+

    Extreme violence, Explicit Nudity, and/or Extreme Language may be contained in the picture. May contain sexually explicit material. Absolutely not for anyone under 18 years of age.

    Please note: Ratings used within our system are oftentimes provided by the manufacturer of the product. Because of the differences in ratings used by these companies, we have combined their systems, with the descriptions of the ratings listed above. STUF does not set ratings (except for its own products) and is not responsible for errors, omissions, or inaccurate ratings. These ratings are guidelines only, and are subject to change.

     

    Running Time / Video Length

    Next to the age rating of each item, you will see the approximate running time listed for each video. Depending on the manufacturer, running times may or may not include extra bonus features such as previews.

    Edited and Uncut

    Although many fans screech in horror at the very thought of altering the original Japanese version of a show, for a series to make it to American TV (or even into some retail stores) they must often be edited. This means that scenes containing nudity, excessive violence, blood, and foul language are altered or even totally removed. Anime purists may want the original in all its glory, but parents of young TV viewers do not. Manufacturers recognized this and often release both the Edited (TV Version) and the Uncut (Original Version) of the show.

    Release Dates

    If an item has not yet been released at the time of this catalog's printing, you may see a release date listed for the item. However, manufacturers can (and often do) change these release dates due to production delays. If you are ordering an item with a release date and are concerned whether this item is on schedule, please feel free to check the item's release date through its online listing, contact the Customer Support Team.

    If a product in our Online Store has a Date Available as Dec 12, 2030, it's because the systems we use internally and for the website require a date to be entered. Because of the number of places it appears, and because it is in some places that we cannot easily customize its appearance, we try to be consistent and display 12/12/30, or Dec 12, 2030.

    Return & Cancel

    How do I cancel my order?

    You can cancel your order by sending a cancelation request to our Customer Support Team.

    You can cancel your order up until it has been shipped. Please note that sometimes orders are shipped before the shipping confirmation email has been sent, so please try to cancel earlier rather than later.

    Where are the other items in my order?

    If you believe something is missing from your, please first:

    • Check your most recent email about your order. It contains important details about product availability, shipping origin, and delivery time, and highlights items that may be shipping separately due to special circumstances.
    • Check that all items are listed as available and shipped. Those that are not will be marked with different colors to easily identify them.
    Please identify your situation below:

    All items appear to have shipped but I still don't have some items
    • Some items may have shipped separately. Please always allow at least one week after the first delivery before contacting us about your order. Sometimes packages get held by customs or post offices a little longer than expected.
    • If you still have not received the rest of your order one week after the first delivery, please contact us.
    Some items are highlighted in gray/red and marked as backordered/cancelled
    • Items highlighted in gray or noted as backordered in your email will ship separately as they enter stock. We will contact you again as they ship out. Thank you for your patience.
    • Items highlighted in red or noted as canceled in your email were not available or were removed from your order by request. If you were charged for these items, a refund has been sent. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Can I return my order?

    Yes. We offer our customers the chance to return or exchange most merchandise with very little hassle. If the items are still in clean, new condition, then we would be happy to set up an RMA for you.

    If you are returning an item due to our error, we'll pay for the return shipping cost, otherwise we request that you pay for the return shipping for the time.

    Unfortunately, we do not allow returns or exchanges for the following products:

    • Custom Made Fashion Items
    • Adult Items

    What do I do if there is a problem/error with my order?

    Can I exchange my T-shirt for a different size?

    Most shirts can be exchanged for a different size provided they are not close out or clearance items. We will accept shirts back provided they are in good condition - not worn, washed or dirtied by pet hair - with the tags still intact.

    To make an exchange, you will need to request an RMA and provide us with the invoice number, the product ID of the shirt you intend to return and the size you would like to receive in exchange. A shipping fee will be required, which is dependent on your shipping location (domestic or international).

    Do I have to pay to ship back a product to AnimePoko.com?

    Unfortunately, Yes. We suggest using the least expensive shipping method available. We will only reimburse shipping for wrong items sent.

    Is "I didn't like this DVD" a good enough reason for me to return it?

    Sorry, no. However, defective DVDs can be exchanged for another copy of the same tape within ninety (90) days. Please note that DVD player incompatibilities cannot be considered defects without the manufacturer's acknowledgement of the problem.

    How do preorders work?

    Preorder items are in production and can only be purchased reliably by preordering the item before it ships.

    A few things to remember when purchasing items on preorders:

    • Your order will be held until the item is ready to ship. If you have other in-stock items in your order, those items will ship to you right away.
    • If paying by credit card through our website, we will charge full amount first then we will refund the amount of not shipped items ahead of the release date. Because we do not keep customer's billing information over 3 weeks due to merchant company's policy. The shipping occurs when the item becomes available. If paying with Paypal, Check or Money Transfer, the full amount will be asked upfront to secure your preorder.

AnimePoko.com assumes no responsibility for delay or loss of your package within the USPS system. We are unable to issue replacements or refunds for items lost in this manner.     Packages shipped via Airmail is shipped "as is" with tracking or insurance.     LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    Customers who chose a shipping option without tracking and insurance when a shipping option with tracking and insurance is available to them recognize the inherent risks of these shipping methods. As such, you agree to waive your right to claim non-arrival in the event that a delivery does not reach its destination. These shipping options include, but are not limited to, Airmail (for shipping from Japan) or USPS (for shipping from Los Angeles).     How can I change the shipping address on my order?

    We are usually able to change the shipping address on an order within the first 24 hours after the order has been placed. If you've placed your order more than 24 hours ago, we might not be able to change it before it goes out.

    If you believe something is missing from your, please first:

    • Check your most recent email about your order. It contains important details about product availability, shipping origin, and delivery time, and highlights items that may be shipping separately due to special circumstances.
    • Check that all items are listed as available and shipped. Those that are not will be marked with different colors to easily identify them.

    • Items highlighted in red or noted as canceled in your email were not available or were removed from your order by request. If you were charged for these items, a refund has been sent. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    How are orders packaged?

    We do our very best to pack your order with care so you can be worry-free about getting amazing goods from us. For products shipped from us, our all staff individually wraps each item and places it inside a simple yet strong box for maximum quality and safety. With over 15 years of experience, our staff's packing skills are efficient yet elegant, like geishas preparing green tea.

    Where is my package's tracking number?

    Order delivery tracking is available only on all packages shipped from us. When your package ships, an email notification is sent to you including your tracking number and a link to the tracking webpage. Please check your inbox and spam filters for this shipping confirmation email.

    Do you ship to APO addresses?

    Yes.

    Please make sure your APO address has "United States" as the country, rather than the country you're actually based in.

    About Free Shipping by AnimePoko.com

    If you are a domestic customer (US) and order over $199, Economy shipping is free.

    You receive free shipping if your order includes at least $199 of not pre-order items. Any item qualifies to contribute to your free shipping order minimum except pre-order item.

    Please understand that many of the pre-order dates are various, we have to ship them our all separately.

    How do I update my address?

    Ordering from AnimePoko.com requires both a billing address and shipping address.

    • The billing address is required for any transaction made online, and most importantly for credit cards. It must match the address registered to the bank account/credit card you intend to use for payment.
    • The shipping address is where your order will be delivered after the transaction is completed. It could be your house, office or even a friend's address.
    Registered users can manage their address book using the "Manage Addresses" button available on the account dashboard. From there, you will be able to add, delete, or edit addresses.

    Changes made to your address book do not apply to orders you have already placed.
    To change the address for a current order, please contact the Customer Support Team.

    I closed the PayPal window before paying, so now how can I pay for my order?

    If you've accidentally closed the PayPal payment window during the checkout process, your order has been recorded by our system but no payment was made. Once your order has been reviewed by our staff, we will send you a confirmation invoice with a link to pay through PayPal.

    You can make a manual PayPal payment at any time by sending it to service@animepoko.com with your order number in the subject line. Once you have the confirmation number please send the confirmation number to our payments department.

    What is Guest Checkout?

    Guest Checkout allows you to buy from AnimePoko.com without creating an account or registering, keeping some of your basic personal information from being saved on our database.
